Yamaha No. 100 - Acoustic Guitar - 60s Vintage - Japan
An early 60s Yamaha No. 100 .
Yamaha NO 100 is an all solid wood instrument within Yamaha’s classical guitar lineup of the 60s era.
In 1964 models NO were replaced with models NO GXXXX, which had more Spanish body outline, “onion” style headstocks, and new design label (used by Yamaha for next several years).
This is a gem of a vintage, just love looking at it. Picking it up as well, sturdy built and feels/sounds wonderful.
Despite somewhat “ordinary” looks, this era of old Yamahas are quite extraordinary guitars. They were quite expensive too. often a full-year salary for avg Japanese student at the time.
Despite its age of 55+ years, the guitar remains in good cosmetic and very good structural condition. It has the typical several small dents, light scratches, and abrasions on its body. Mostly it gives a vintage and warmed-up appearance.. Nothing that detracts from the playability, tone or sound.
It is a beautiful-sounding guitar. Sings super sweet and charming, with lots of resonance, colors, overtones, and impressive sustain. It’s loud, very responsive, and notes are very separated.
It also plays so easy, that will satisfy any level of player from beginner to pro/stage.
